Claude Monet was born on November 14, 1840 in Paris, France, the second son of Adolph and Louis. His parents are second-generation Parisians, father be a grocery store owner, mother be a singer.  In 1841,The family moved to Le Havre in Normandy, located on the Seine River estuary Bank (Le Havre). His father had hoped that he could inherite the family's grocery store, but Claude Monet wanted to become an artist. His mother was a singer. On January 28, 1857, when Monet was 16, his mother died. Therefore, the young Monet had to quilt from  school, and lived with his widowed and childless aunt--Marie-Jeanne Lecadre. Claude died of lung cancer on December 5, 1926, at the age of 86, was buried in Giverny church cemetery. Claude Monet insisted on a simple funeral ceremonies, so only about 50 people attended his funeral.
His family, his garden and water lily inherited by his son, Mitchell. Which was donated to France Academy in 1966. Through effort by the Claude Monet Foundation, Monet's house and garden was receoveried and open to public. Thanks for Eyesee Art sponsor this website .
Claude Monet left around 500 sketches, more than 2000 paintings and 2,700 letters to the world. His Footprints from Paris Street to the Eastern Mediterranean coast, from France to London, Venice, Norway, traveling and painting, left numerous works to the coming generations.
